Yolanda’s Birthday Ecstatic Dance with Ecstatic Dance Batavia!

Event will take place at Torus Center For Integrative Healing, event space is on the second floor of the building.

Admission is a love donation of $9 to Charity Water.  Donations will be given through the Torus website with a ticket purchase and all proceeds go to this wonderful charity.

Pre-registration can be done through the Torus website or via PayPal (jkrusetherapy@gmail.com). Feel free to donate more than the minimum donation we are asking.

Nobody is turned away for lack of funds. Please contact Kohl if you would like to help at the event in order to cover your admission price. Kids are free to the event. This is a family friendly dance and there will be young kids joining in on the dance and kids are encouraged to join.

Yolanda and Kohl will be opening the circle with the start of a water ceremony with intentions brought forth during that time. Please bring a water bottle with water to have it blessed as well as flowers for the creation of the flower mandala however flowers will also be supplied.

Immediately following will be the opening circle with discussion of guidelines and community engagement. After the opening DJ Ecstatic Dancer Extraordinaire (aka Kohl Mayberry) will be sharing 90 minutes of ecstatic dance music. The music is set in a wave format inviting everyone to experience different states, moods, and levels of consciousness.

Consider staying present within the movement and letting your body move to the music. Ecstatic dance is a freeform focused movement practice for all. During our dance we will be invited to let go of judgement of ourselves and others, embrace whatever emotions arise, and feel free to move, shake, and groove however our bodies choose. We are invited to listen to our bodies and move in any way that we feel is authentic, safe, and personal for us. The dance space is free of consumption of alcohol and we step out of verbal conversation as well as the use of any cell phones or photography. During our dance we are silent/no talking (please have verbal conversations outside of the dance floor, thank you for your understanding).

When the music ends it will be followed by a gentle water sound healing from Yolanda. Sound healings can pair perfectly at the end of an ecstatic dance and can be an opportune time to reflect, rest, and continue the healing process.

Immediately following the sound healing we will create the flower mandala inside the dance space which we will be bringing outside with us.

While staying nonverbal we will leave the dance space for a short walk to the Fox River where we will complete the water ceremony and also hold the closing circle outside on the beautiful river island.

The goal is to wrap up the closing circle by 7:00 p.m CST.
